Joe  Espada

I’m interested in how easily the world gets into us, and how we don’t really stay the same after it does. Things come in through small openings, glances, sounds, passing moments, and then show up later in ways we didn’t plan or notice.

Drawing is how I slow things down and stay with what I see, while writing is more like following a trail of thoughts as they wander off on their own. I usually start with everyday details that feel almost too ordinary to matter, but I keep returning to them until something starts to shift. I like working in that space where things aren’t fully formed yet, where meaning is still a bit loose and everything is still becoming something else.
